The election officer of Lantawan town of Basilan province and his daughter were hurt in an ambush in Isabela City Monday, October 11.
Police and military reports said Aknam Hashim and his eledest daughter were together in a car when attacked by gunmen, who positioned at one side of the busy Rizal Avenue of Isabela City in Basilan.
Hashim and his daughter suffered bullet wounds to the different parts of their bodies.
Responding personnel of Isabela City police and the Army’s 101st Infantry Brigade rushed the victims to the nearest hospital.
Gov. Jim Salliman, chair of the provincial peace and order council, condemned the ambush incident.
He urged the police to identify the suspects for immediate prosecution. (John Unson)
