Police name the suspects behind Zamboanga Sibugay town vice mayor killingMarch 2, 2021
IPIL, Philippines – Police authorities have named the suspects of the killing of Mabuhay town vice mayor in Zamboanga Sibugay.
The suspects, according to Brig. Gen. Ronnie Ylagan, Police Regional Office 9 (PRO 9) director, are allegedly members of a gun-for-hire group operating in the province.
This group is also into piracy, and illegal drug operations.
Vice Mayor Restituto Calonge had a conversation with Municipal Engineer Edgar Pampanga, municipal employee Gapor Abdulhari, and retired police officer Gregorio Baya Cenas on Friday when the suspects arrived.
One of the two suspects, Er-er Mangoda pulled the trigger killing Vice Mayor Restituto Calonge and Municipal Engineer Edgar Pampanga on-the-spot. Abdulhari and Cenas were wounded in the attack.
The suspect fled from the crime scene on a motorcycle commandeered by one Jomar Taiting.
Investigators recovered seven empty cartridge cases of caliber .45 pistol.
Calonge was the former mayor of the town. He ran for vice mayor in 2016 alongside with his daughter as mayor.
The police have continued their manhunt operation against the suspects. (The Sun Monitor)
